John J. Jasins
Chef John Jasins was born and raised in Massachusetts and Maine, USA, where his love of food and cooking began at a young age. Cooking for his family or his friends became a passion. Shortly after graduating from Clemson University in 2001, John decided to follow his passion for cooking and in 2005 graduated from The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, NY.
As a young cook, John honed his skills in Michelin-starred fine dining kitchens in Boston (Upstairs on the Square) and New York City (Oceana Restaurant) before moving out to Napa Valley (The Restaurant at Meadowood), Sausalito (Murray Circle at Cavallo Point) and San Francisco (Dixie), where he worked through the kitchen ranks as Sous Chef and Chef de Cuisine. In 2013, Chef John pivoted to corporate dining at the main campus of Google in Silicon Valley, where he ran kitchens to prepare meals for hundreds of “Googlers” a day.
In 2017, John made the big move to Chiang Mai, Thailand. His love of Thai food as well as a strong western presence made Chiang Mai the perfect place for a cook and food lover. Chef John would take over as Executive Chef at River Rehab and Kitchen Commerce, a start-up food company. In 2021, John helped open The Yard CNX as the chef partner, crafting and cooking a Caribbean fusion style menu.
In 2023, Chef John, along with May St. Onge, opened Smash Daddy’s Burgers, an American-style restaurant with chef-crafted smash burgers and more.
